Reylia's Speed Drawing of Audrey Hepburn

Posted: May 21st, 2011

I usually don't post about YouTube "tribute" videos - mostly because they tend to be a little naff, but this one is different. Rather than a compilation of photos or video clips set to music, this is a time-lapse video of Reylia, a talented artist from Japan, drawing Audrey. It's a fascinating video to watch - at first it seems like it's not going to turn out so well, but the end result is excellent.

I was so impressed with the quality of Reylia's work that I purchased the original drawing from her. I've always wanted a piece of Audrey artwork I could display somewhere, but have always found those mass-produced pop-art things somewhat ghastly and certainly not in the spirit of Audrey. I'm sure you'll agree this piece is different.

If you like her work, check out Reylia's YouTube channel:

It was quite fascinating to watch the portrait being done.
Audrey has been my role model all my life, even though I think I might be a few years older. Her grace, houmor, liveliness, ability to be in the moment even when the rest of the world seemed to be out of scync has been a guiding light for me.
Who ever you are drawing her, it seems you have captured her essence. Thank you for that.
I wish the best for you, it is a rare and special talent to be able to capture like that.
If there is a way I can help Please contact

I too am an artist who loves to draw, so i can appreciate a great artist when I see one. I hope you use your talent to its fullest, because so few people are blessed with talent such as yours. I know you would have an extremely successful career in drawing portraits for people.
    God bless,
    Bridgette
