Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady was to become the most lavish movie musical in the history of Warner Bros. It follows Phonetics Professor Higgins , an arrogant and snobbish man, who agrees on a bet, to transform cockney flower girl, Eliza Dolittle, into a real lady, using his techniques on refining her speech and manner. Not acknowledging her efforts when she finally succeeds, Eliza angrily leaves him, only for him to realize that he may actually not be able to live without her, since he's grown accustomed to her presence.
