A sheet of rare Audrey Hepburn stamps was auctioned for charity in Berlin last night and raised $600,000 for The Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund and UNICEF.
The stamps, featuring a photograph of Audrey as Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's, were supposed to be destroyed after permission to use the image was not granted. The stamps were not approved because of the way the original photograph had been modified. Alterations to the original photograph included: flipping Audrey's face, removing the sunglasses and adding a cigarette holder - an item that appears in many Breakfast at Tiffany's publicity shots.
